This man isn't laughing. No sir. Contestants on a French game show have tortured each other with electric shocks until one man cried for mercy and apparently dropped dead. However all was not quite as it seemed, while the participants thought they were starring in the pilot of a reality TV show, it was actually a psychological experiment.

Like much of northwest Georgia's spring sports teams, the Murray County track and field team has had inclement weather rain, and snow, on its early-season schedule. Coach Sam Young said his team has had only four of what he called "full practices." Ken Holland is on the phone from Kelowna, B.C., which is where Detroit coach Mike Babcock played junior hockey and which is not far from where Holland, the Red Wings' GM, grew up. What a damned, stinking shame that the world's greatest hockey player also is a goon. The NHL needs Alex Ovechkin to be a post-Olympic ambassador, a seductive highlight reel, a daily reason for SportsCenter to feature his goal explosions and transcendent dazzle and flair. Every time he takes a shift for the Washington Capitals , he should respect the soil on which he makes his living, remember how many Americans viewed the gold-medal game on TV -- 34.8 million at the peak hour, or almost nine percent of t

Would the U.S. government save it the way it saved Bear Stearns and AIG ? The official line from the government was no. But many couldn't believe it, given the systemic risk posed by a Lehman collapse. In the end, the government did let Lehman fail, which happened on Sept. 15, 2008.

no statutory framework existed that allowed the government to help Lehman in a material way.   -Christopher Cox

If the economy is starting to hum, the railroads must be, well, on track. Indeed, as strong signals indicate the economy is heading for a firm recovery, investors are rediscovering the railroads, which are among the first to benefit from improved economic activity. One example is CSX ( CSX ), a major provider of rail-based transportation services, whose shares have trekked up from $42 in early February 2010 to $50 on March 12.

It's the best bet among the railroads because of its vast assets, strong earnings prospects and a solid balance sheet, with a cash stash of $1 billion   -Carl Birkelbach
